Bible Verse: “Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called the sons of God.”  Matthew 5:9
Letters for the week:  We will work on letter Ff.  If your child has trouble in letter recognition or sounds, please practice at home to aid in mastering.  *Upper and lower case recognition should be secure by the middle of September.
Homework:
·       Continue reading every day to your child.
·       Homework pages will come home in folders on Monday to be completed and returned by Friday.  Reading logs will begin in September.
Ø Any math homework that goes home that does not require written answers from your student, please initial the top of the sheet and send it back to school so that we will know it was completed.
Skills:  Our hallways are full of all of the hard work your children have been doing this week!  We cannot wait for Zero the Hero to make his first appearance on the tenth day of school.  He will come every ten days until the 100th day of school.  We are making a book counting by tens to keep track of his visits! Remember to review the kindergarten objectives for the first nine weeks.  Please work on the ones that need strengthening as we go.

Reminders:
MORNING CARPOOL HINT:   HAVE YOUR CHILD SIT ON THE RIGHT SIDE IF POSSIBLE TO HELP US HAVE A “SPEEDY” DROP OFF. J This also helps keep our fifth grade patrols safe by not walking around cars.  The patrols, Mrs. Strickland, and another teacher will be there every day to help.  Please use the carpool~we are here to help you and your child have a smooth start to their day. Our school day begins at 8:15 every day (except Wednesdays-8:50).
          ·       Completed papers come home every Thursday in folders.  Please return any papers that need to be returned Friday and return folders every day.
·       If you would like to send a “no spill” water bottle for your child to keep in their classroom, you may do so.  These will stay at school all week and be sent home on Fridays for cleaning or replacing.
