Homework:
. Math- Homelink 1.13
· Practice putting ABC letter cards in order. These will come home in folders on Monday. You may need to start with only part of the alphabet. Work on letter sounds as you continue-especially vowels!!
· Rhyming words: use time in the car to practice rhyming. Many times they get confused between “beginning sounds” and “rhyming sounds”.
Skills:
· Popcorn words “pop up” everywhere. We started “buttering up” these words by coloring over them with a yellow crayon or marker. At home it is fun to butter up with a hi-liter/marker. Tear out a sheet of newspaper or magazine and write down the popcorn words you want them to search for. This will help increase speed in recognition. You may have to discuss the differences in “a” and “I” used inside words rather than as a word.
· We continue to learn about the farm and farm animals.
· “Kinder-writing” has started. Our focus is writing the sounds we hear so we “sttrreeetchhh out” the word aloud and write what we hear. When asked if it’s spelled correctly, “I can read it!” usually satisfies.
Reminders:
· September chapel (chapel is 12:05-12:25 in the auditorium in the Fine Arts Building): Tuesday, September 10th and September 24th.
. Thursday, Sept. 12th School pictures- wear school uniforms.
. Friday, September 13th Dress down day to raise money for Jays’ Hope. Bring $1 and wear jeans and spirit shirt.
· Friday, October 12th: Field Trip to Twin Oakes Farm. More info to come.
